About Culmen
A roofing company built around one idea.
Build it once, build it right, and never come back for anything but a compliment.
The name
Culmen is the Latin word for the ridge of a roof, the highest point of a building. It is where the two slopes meet and where a roof either holds or fails.
We chose it because it says what we do. Culmen Roofing Co. does not install thirty-year asphalt shingles. We install the systems that homeowners in Southeastern Wisconsin put on when they have decided they are done re-roofing: hand-split cedar, quarried slate, and engineered composite slate and shake.
These materials are unforgiving. Cedar has to breathe. Slate has to be hung, not nailed tight. Composite tiles have exposure and coursing rules that decide whether the roof reads as stone or as plastic. A crew that installs them a few times a year gets them wrong. We do nothing else.
